NORMAL DELIVERY AFTER CS, IS IT POSSIBLE?

Q: Is it advisable for a lady who has done Caesarean section before due to a very small pelvic to deliver by herself again?

Ans: When a narrow and small pelvic is the reason for a Caesarean Section, it is usually advised that subsequent deliveries should also be by Caesarean Sections. This is because the narrow pelvis which acts like an obstruction to the passage of the baby will still remain there while subsequent babies delivered by the mother may increase in size.

ARE YOU A NEW PARENT? SEE THE REVISED IMMUNIZATION SCHEDULE

NOTE: IMMUNISATION IS FREE

When babies are born, they inherit specific types of antibodies from their mothers.

These antibodies help them fend off different diseases. The antibodies are also nature's way of protecting babies when they're most vulnerable.

However, starting around six months of age, these antibodies start to diminish, and almost completely disappear by the time your baby is one year old.

In the ideal situation, babies should start to make their own antibodies i.e. the beginning of their immune system, as they increasingly become exposed to the diseases that the maternal antibodies had previously protected them against.

After access to clean water and breastfeeding, immunization is the most highly effective intervention for protecting babies from infectious disease.

Vaccines are either parts of the viruses or bacteria (called antigens) or weakened live viruses. Vaccines are given to babies before the mother's antibodies completely disappear. And most babies get up to 20 vaccines by the time they are one.

Vaccine preventable diseases account for approximately 22% of child deaths in Nigeria, amounting to over 200,000 deaths per year. Some Nigerian parents do not realize the importance of taking their children for vaccinations. These vaccinations are provided for free thanks to many international and local NGOs and the Nigerian government itself. You can enquire from friends and family about the nearest local government health center that provides immunization. There you can find out what time and what day, you should take your child for immunization.

On immunization days, you will be given a card that will help health practitioners and yourself keep track of the vaccines your baby has taken and will take.

As vaccines for other diseases are developed and public health statistics of childhood diseases are analysed, the national programme is changed.

As a new Nigerian parent it can be tough to keep track of all the vaccines your newborn needs. To make things easier for you, we have also outlined the revised immunization schedule below.

RESULTS OF UNRESOLVED MARITAL CONFLICTS

wedding ring Stigmatization

Indeed, we know that nearly every marriage sometimes can go through the period of delusion, but when it goes beyond the state of hope of survival, such can be replaced by sadness, hurt and despair. “Feeling hopeless is contagious”. It is contagious because it can be transmitted to the ignorant generation yet unborn.

•  Rejection:
It breeds unacceptance by people and the community sometimes. One is seen as an irresponsible person who does not know how to handle marriage. It may lead to ridiculous nickname. E.g. Father of my children or mother of my children.
Unresolved conflicts leading to divorce also cause an individual to be stigmatized and scorned reproachfully.

•  Tormenting: Every unresolved conflict in marriage must present the following torment on its union;

1.  Love and sex denial, food and clothing or shelter denial,

2.  Denial of healthcare, family identity, security and attention.

3.  Also, other basic needs such as education/ skill acquisition may not also be encouraged in most cases.

4.  Physical victimization in form of battering that inflicts heart attack on your spouse,

5.  Denial of help e.g. in some African settings, women are allowed to fend for themselves and their children as if they are widows or slaves

•  Sickness: The result of unresolved conflict in marriage can easily cause the following illnesses:

1.  Hypertension or high blood pressure as a result of worries and frustration about life, this bring about unrest of mind,

2.  Stroke,

3.  Mental disorder or madness.

•  Fear: Phobia comes as a result of the unknown, such as lack of knowledge of what may happen in the nearest hour between the couples. It could be fear of divorce.

•  Children lose morals because of none parental affection: Unresolved con-flicts in marriage bring suffering to the children due to non-parental affection. Therefore, this action could breed; Sickness;

a.  Evil influence by peer pressure;

b.  Stubbornness and drunkenness thus becoming a vagabond;

c.  Drug addition,

d.  Gangsterism and cultism;

e.  Armed robbery and other social vices.

Generational Precedents: If there is no urgent intervention in resolving the conflicts, it may continue from generation to generation.

Divorce: this could likely be the end result

Death: Finally, if in the course of the unresolved conflicts the couple re-fused to separate them-selves in divorce, at the end it could be the man murdering the woman in anger or vice visa.

Oppression and suppression is the devil’s tool to destroy homes, this is why we must not let our anger or emotions take control over us.

Conflict is inevitable as long as two different peo-ple are involved but let’s apply maturity and the fear of God to conquer every agent and tricks of the devil to break our homes. There is no marriage without some hitches.

VAGINAL STEAMING: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Women doing V-steaming or yoni steaming

Vaginal steaming involves exposing the vagina to steam to cleanse it and enhance its health. Other names for the practice include V-steaming or yoni steaming.

The practice has recently made the news due to celebrity reports that tout a variety of benefits, ranging from relieving period discomfort to improving fertility.

However, there is not any scientific evidence to prove that vaginal steaming works. No research studies have tested vaginal steaming or its benefits.

There are also a lot of dangers involved in vaginal steaming, especially burning very delicate tissues.

Learn more about vaginal steaming in this article.

How does vaginal steaming really work?

Vaginal steaming involves exposing the vagina to steam.

Vaginal steaming involves sitting over a steaming pot of water that often contains added herbs. Possible herbs may include basil, mugwort, rosemary, and wormwood.

People who practice vaginal steaming believe the herbs can penetrate vaginal tissues and offer a variety of benefits.

Some people try vaginal steaming at home, but it is also available at spas. The treatment typically lasts between 20 and 45 minutes.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS:

Some people believe vaginal steaming offers many health benefits and have called the practice a "facial" for the vagina.

Some of the reported benefits of vaginal steaming include:

1. Reducing menstrual symptoms, such as bloating, cramps, exhaustion, and heavy bleeding

2. Boosting fertility

3. Promoting healing after childbirth

4. Reducing stress

5. Treating hemorrhoid

6. Increasing energy and reducing fatigue

7. Treating headaches etc

Currently, there are no scientific studies that prove these purported benefits. However, some people say it works by enhancing blood flow to the vaginal tissues, which can promote healing.

WHAT ARE THE HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERNS?

1.  The primary safety concern is that the steam could burn the sensitive vaginal tissues if it is too hot.

2.   Adding extra moist heat to the vagina and exposing the vagina to certain additives within the steam could also increase a woman's risk for yeast or bacterial infections.

3.   If the vaginal steaming equipment is not kept clean, a person could also be at risk for infections and other side effects. Therefore, it is essential to clean all equipment thoroughly before using it.

4.   If a person goes to a spa for a vaginal steaming, they should ask the spa staff how they clean their equipment and what steps they take to reduce infection risk.

5.   Vaginal steaming can be dangerous if a woman is pregnant. This is because the vaginal steam could affect the growing fetus.

6.   It is generally recommended by health professionals that pregnant women avoid using hot tubs, saunas, and heating pads around the pelvis for the same reason.

7.  If a person does try vaginal steaming, it is essential to avoid getting too close to the steam or using water that is too hot.

If the steam feels uncomfortable or as if it is getting too hot, a person should move away from the steam.

Women who are trying to restore pH balance to their vagina due to frequent infections should see their doctor before they try vaginal steaming.

There are prescription treatments available to help restore pH balances where necessary. These are more likely to be effective than vaginal steaming.

CONCLUSION :
The vagina is a self-cleaning organ that regularly maintains pH balance. Additional interventions, such as vaginal steaming or douching, are not necessary to maintain vaginal health.

Keeping the vagina clean, dry, and free of perfumes is the best way to keep the vagina healthy. Therefore, most people should not try vaginal steaming.

If they do try it, it is best to exercise extreme caution to reduce the risk of burns and infections.
